Pikachu eraser stamp carving hyperlaspe video and tako stamp

I carved another Pikachu! Why so many Pikachus? Because Pikachu is cute! That's why! And I like Pikachu! I've printed out squirtle and charmander too... But maybe next time... :P Gonna carve some simple designs first...

I did a little count of my box of eraser stamps... I've carved over 40 stamps already! Woow! My box of carved erasers is getting fullll!

Anyhow, here's the video.

I tidied up Pikachu a little after that...

And the tako eraser stamp! Got the idea from pinterest... Gonna be taking loads of ideas from there :P

What can you do with all these eraser stamps? Decorate your notebook... Or make a card. That's what!

Loads and loads of stamping... :P

Pikachu eraser stamp carving hyperlaspe video

I did say I was going to carve more pokemon right? Here's pikachu! Gosh. This one got me soooo frustrated. I bought carbon paper and tried to use that to transfer the image onto the eraser, since well. I can't draw. But nope. Didn't work. I tried coloring the back of the paper with pencil, then pen for a self made version of carbon paper. Nope. Didn't work. In the end I had to cut out the abused and outlined numerous time piece of pikachu and use that to trace the outline on the eraser. I still have to edit the outline because when you trace things, it ends up bigger than the original drawing... But at least the proportions and stuff are there. Then I just had to draw in the other details. At least I *think* I pieced together the rest of pikachu properly so yeah... You can see I started off with a really BLUE piece of eraser in the video. Good thing though, is that it makes it really easy to see which parts have been cut out and which parts aren't don't yet.

It's been a while since I carved something so... Complicated. This one took me quite a while, so I've speeded up the video 6X.

After the video recording I tidied the stamp up a little more (the eyes especially!) and ended up with this. Looks pretty nice by my standards!

Pokeball Eraser carving hyperlapse!

I'm back with another hyperlapse video! This time at 4x speed for a pokeball! Since Pokemon Go just got released in Singapore last week... Thought I'll do some Pokemon stamps! Enjoy!

Bought some carbon paper... BUT they don't work on eraser arghssss! How can I get transfer my print designs to eraser then? T.T

Eraser stamp carving hyperlapse video!

Hi all! Been a while since I posted here huh? Decided to try something new today! I managed to hook up my phone onto my table lamp in a most crude and haphazard way... But hey, I got the phone in the right position...! So I managed to take a video of me doing an eraser carving, and speed it up like 12x using Hyperlapse.

I am so used to carving with my face like 5 cm away from the eraser... I had to squint to do this one so that my head won't block the camera... :P

Enjoy!

Eraser Stamp Numbers 25 and 26

Ok. I actually carved out these guys months ago. Literally. Like way back in February. And I actually drew them in Dec last year. Hence the Xmas themed bells.

But well... Life and procrastination got in the way of posting the designs... Oh wells.

That's no. 25. The muti-layered heart.

And the Xmas bells.

Posting this just in time for mother's day huh? Lol.

Eraser Stamps so far...

24 stamps already!

That's halfway through my box of 48! Not bad right?

Decided to look through my designs so far and pick out the Arashi related ones. As it turns out... Not much. Lol. I basically have 5 Arashi logos, 1 kanji, and 1 Korosensei.

I'd really love to carve some Arashi chibis... BUT. I'm no good at drawing chibis. Guess I have to find some Arashi chibis to copy or something...

Eraser Stamp No. 24: Korosensei

A cute korosensei stamp this time!

Yes. It's Chinese New year holidays and so I've got a lot of time on my hands. And since I don't feel like doing any work... It's arts and crafts time! Which means eraser carvings! And loads of updates in this blog!

I wanted to schedule the posts but... What the heck. I've got so many pieces of art works coming in that I don't feel like waiting to show them off. Lol. Not that I've got any visitors here though.... XD

Anyway. Here it is! Korosensei!

I got this Korosensei clip + magnet with the wall calendar I got. I swear I wanted the desktop calendar. But what the heck. I ordered the wrong thing and got a huge wall calendar instead... ><

Oh wells.

At least I found a place for it on the wall now....

That's the wall calendar lying on my bed, still in all it's bubble wrapped glory.

And the wall calendar... on the wall. Yes yes, the side is kinda blocked. No space... Hmm. Just realised... why is it still on January! Even though the mochi making is appropriate for today since it's the Chinese New Year (making/eating mochi on New Year's day is a Japanese tradition, only that now they follow the western calendar). I swear I flipped it up already. Must have fallen back down cos I didn't clip it in that plastic binder thing at the top properly.

Anyway, here's the Korosensei magnet/clip that I based my stamp on. As you can see, Korosensei is actually really easy to draw.

Just finished the carving! Next up is the test inking!

Perfect!

Not a single change to be made. Well, it's a really simple design after all. I actually wanted to use the gold ink pad... But alas! That stupid thing is DRIED OUT. And I just opened it too. Sigh. No wonder those ink pads were just $1.90 each. The sliver and bronze that I bought on the same day are working though. Guess I'll have to get a gold ink pad when I visit the bookstore. Luckily I bought a yellow one the other day :)

And that's the stamp again. That's all for now folks!

Eraser Stamp No. 23: Arashi kanji

So... I thought I'll try my hand at a pretty, calligraphy like Arashi kanji.

The result was a kanji that looked nothing like calligraphy...

But hey, I drew that free hand with not draft, no printing of a mirror image kanji to look at... Oh wells. I need to figure out how to transfer a print to the eraser...

Halfway through the carving process...

The finished product. I had to do quite a bit of refinement with this one, the lines were way too thick initially and ended up looking all stuck together when printing. Compare the top red kanji and the bottom one. The bottom one has better defined strokes.

Also... I was way too enthusiastic with stamping on the sponge type of ink pad, and sunk the eraser all the way in. Even the deepest grooves were filled with ink and I had trouble wiping off the ink in the grooves! Here in this picture, you see less of the inked grooves because I'd already widened some of the grooves.

Eraser stamp No. 22: Circles

Finally! An eraser stamp!

I drew this one halfway long ago... Finally decided to 'finish it' by adding that largest circle...

It still looks pretty empty, but I had no idea what else/where else to add in anymore so... I just proceeded with the carving.

Eraser Stamp No. 21: Flower

Drew this freehand, off nothing. I wanted to make it erm... more... crowded? Sort of like the wave design, with more details. But ended up not having anything to fill in the flowers. Except for well. Dots. And the thing of dots is... it's really hard to carve out. It's easy if it's a negative color dot. Like, if I were to dig a circle out of the eraser. I just have to hold my knife still and turn the eraser around, like what you'd do if you were to carve that bad bit of an apple out or something. But no, leaving round little stumps is hard, because the stumps left behind tend to be any other shape then round...

Eraser Stamp No. 20: Piggy

Once again, I looked around my table for inspiration for this one. Seriously, those who says a messy table is good for creativity... I say, yes. By simply virtue of the numerous objects and designs on them from which I can copy. LOL.
That's my attempt at drawing the pig.

And the glass jar with piggy. See the cap? It's all rusted, no thanks to the ultra humid SG weather. But well, I got this in sec 1 or 2 from my senior during a CCA gift exchange. That's like... 13 or 14 years ago. Yeah. This is ancient man.

The completed product.

Eraser Stamp No. 19: Waves

I was looking around the table when I saw the pattern on my chopsticks... And this was the result! This one took me really long to finish. I drew the design before the no. 18 trees was even conceptualised... but owing to the complexity of the design, carving it out took me a while. I'd carve a few curves out at  night, head to bed, then repeat the next day.

Looks pretty daunting isn't it?

I got the design inspiration from my chopsticks...

Just looking at this... made me feel tired. I felt like giving up at first even! Before I even started lol! But as I carved on, it started getting addicting. I even felt urges to carve it!

About 1/3 of the lines carved out.

Halfway there!
Finally! The finished product! It's a pity that the sides were slanted when I did the carving initially... Destroys the otherwise very beautiful stamp... *sigh* Oh wells. I'll be more careful next time! Note to self: When carving frames, you'd better make sure they are darn straight.

Maybe I'll use a ruler when carving frames out next time? Hmm...

Eraser Stamp No. 18: Trees

I've been keeping my eyes peeled for designs and stuff that I can use on my stamps... And my mum happened to buy a new tumbler from Starbucks the other day...

That's the tumbler on the right. It's dark green and all christmasy. This photo doesn't show the colors well... but my purpose of taking the photo was just so I could have a reference of the pattern. I drew my design while copying this photo.

My first sketch. Which looks so ugly it's horrifying.

I went over it in pen... nicer this time. I was too lazy to use ethanol to erase off the wrong lines, since that meant I would have to draw the entire picture again. Plus, the design wasn't that complicated anyway....

And my completed stamp. Took me quite some time to carve, in spite of it's simplicity. The reason? All that empty space at the sides that I have to carve alway. That's pretty troublesome actually...

And another look at my completed stamp. Nothing too special here... just something with a little Christmas flavour. :)

Stamp No. 17: Sumikko Gurashi Penguin and Crane

Another Sumikko Gurashi Penguin! I keep making penguins because... it's easy to draw? Well it's just cute and this particular LINE sticker caught my eye. Yay for LINE stickers. Love them! When I need inspiration for carving, I open up my LINE app and browse through the sticker... :P XD

My initial super ugly sketch VS the cute sticker.

Of course, I redrew it in pen...

Halfway through the carving

And the finished product. The shape kinda makes it look... a little like a whale? Hahaha!
