Black Chalkboard Paint!

I recently popped by Typo in Westgate just to browse around... And lo and behold! I spotted cans of black chalkboard paint being sold there!

It cost 12SGD for a can. I've seen blackboard paint being used in crafts projects online... To transform cups into a blackboard etc.... But I didn't know where to get the paint. Now I've found it!

Of course, there are plenty of option available on Amazon such as this one here, that's available in various color options too.

I scored a piece of cardboard (foolscape backing) from my sis and found a paintbrush (literally a huge one for painting the walls, barely fitted into the can) and painted the cardboard black. I couldn't resist painting one side of the portable charger too.... I just dipped my finger into the paint for that... And as a result I got a smoother black coat of paint on it.

The cardboard totally curled up like a ball due to the moisture from the paint. It's squished under a pile of books now to straighten it out...

Works fine as a blackboard, only that the marks from the brush left to the surface full of lines. I'll definitely not use such a dry brush when painting next time to get a smoother 'blackboard' surface.

That's the portable charger, painted black. I wonder if I'd ever write anything on it? I have three of these small sized portable chargers now... I'm not even sure if they are still working actually, gifts from career fair, a kickstarter project, and my colleague... I'm thinking of rigging them up to the TinyGlo+ boards that I've received in the mail sometime back... But then I'll need to re-program them first... And unfortunately I lack both to tools and the knowledge to do that. Sigh.

(Still, what did I paint one side of it with blackboard paint for?)

I bought a pack of chalks from Typo as well because... I was lazy to go up to the bookstore and get those liquid chalk markers. Messy chalks... Would definitely get those liquid chalk markers the next time I head to the bookstore...

One gripe about the paint. I hate that it comes in a stupid, old fashion can like that. I got my hands dirtier trying to close the can then when I was painting both the cardboard and the portable charger! Yes, even though I dipped my whole finger in paint for the charger! Not to mention the hard time I had opening it. Heck, even after all that struggle, I still couldn't close the lid fully. Let's hope the paint doesn't dry out... It says to keep the can in a cold, dry area, but considering the average annual temperature in Singapore of 27 degrees Celsius, and humidity of 80-90%... I think it's a pretty hopeless situation. Lol.

Alright. That's all for this post, see ya folks!

Digital Art: The Lighthouse

Hiya! It's been a really long time since I did anything remotely artistic. Well I did try my hand at drawing some stickman cartoons, but the verdict is that I'm really good with my hands except when I'm holding a pen/pencil/writing instrument. Heck, I can even make eraser carvings just fine... But no, I can't draw.

My sis happily remarked that I'm only good at doing '3D' stuff. Well... I guess you could put it that way?

I"m really looking forward to getting my 3Dsimo 3D doodling pen... I wonder how well I'll do with THAT lol. Since it's still erm... Drawing after all...

Oh wells.

Anyway, a random little picture from me for now.

Also made with the Assembly app. They've more shape packs and stuff now... And you can even 'make your own shapes' by grouping other shapes together. What I'd really love to see though, is a free transform feature for shapes. At the moment you can only resize the shapes while keeping their aspect ratio. Being able to stretch shapes at will would be a good addition...
